KXAN has appointed Jennifer Sanders as the new full-time evening anchor, and she will be working alongside Daniel Marin. Sanders, who hails from San Antonio, joined KXAN in June 2020 after spending over eight years at WSYR-TV in Syracuse, New York, where she earned multiple awards, including an Edward R. Murrow Award. At KXAN, she has continued to excel, winning a Lone Star EMMY for her reporting on racial displacement in Austin. Since her arrival, she has been a key part of the station’s midday and afternoon broadcasts.
In addition to her anchoring responsibilities, Sanders is passionate about mentoring future journalists and has taught at Syracuse University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and Spanish from Texas Lutheran University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas. Sanders is deeply committed to community service, often volunteering, hosting events, and engaging in solutions-based reporting, drawing on her global experiences to enrich her storytelling.
Jennifer is a 2024 Solutions Journalism Network Journalists of Color fellow.
