Welcome to the Austin (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated website. Founded on December 9, 1960, the Austin Chapter is based on the concepts of friendship and service. The Austin (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is one of 288 Links chapters in 42 states and the District of Columbia (DC) as well as The Bahamas and the United Kingdom. Our reach is global.

The Austin (TX) Chapter, located in the Western Area, has a rich and vibrant history. For 60 Years, the Austin (TX) chapter members have engaged in over 3000 hours serving and working with our national, area, and local partners to provide transformative and meaningful service to citizens in the Austin Metroplex Area including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Blanco, Caldwell, and Bastrop counties.  

 Our service is reflected in five areas:

  • National Trends and Services - addressing issues pertinent to our communities and the nation
  • Services to Youth - undertaking the challenges faced by African-American youth
  • International Trends & Services - helping to improve the lives and livelihood of the global community
  • The Arts - supporting and promoting the performing and visual arts
  • Health & Human Services - encouraging good health and educating the public while helping to eliminate health disparities in minority communities

Western Area Links Hold Rally to Raise Awareness of Human Trafficking

Western Area, The Links Incorporated hosted a march and rally to raise awareness of human trafficking. Members of the Links and others from the Austin Community marched from the JW Marriott to Austin’s City Hall in solidarity to raise awareness of the growing human trafficking in Austin and the state of Texas. The theme of the rally was Not on my Watch.” The Western Area Links donated $5,000.00 
to The Refuge Ranch, a haven for rescued victims of human trafficking. Austin Chapter President, Georgia Johnson was the coordinator for this event.

Chapter President Recognized by Austin Woman Magazine

Austin Woman magazine asked leaders across industries to share their experiences as black women in Austin and their thoughts on how the city can be more supportive of its black community. Recognized as a progressive leader by the magazine, Georgia Johnson, President of the Austin (TX) Chapter of Links, Incorporated, was among the women Austin Women magazine turned to for answers.

The membership consists of more than 15,000 professional women of color in 288 chapters located in 42 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
